Limited engine choice

Featured Replies

Hello

I have been researching Karoq's for the last 6 months as keen to get one as my next company car however I want a 2.0 diesel fwd.

I do around 30000mls per year and think the 1.5 may be noisy at 80mph on the motorway and mpg's not too good.

Could I get feedback from owners on their experiences?

Also considering the 2l 4x4 but pushes the tax up a fair bit, the Ateca, Tiguan and Kodiak all offer 2litre front wheel drive so does anyone know if this is on the cards for the Karoq - when asked Skoda say no but they would say that wouldn't they?

Thanks in advance.

My 1.5TSI is very refined at ~80mph. At 80 the engine sits at 2,200rpm in 7th (DSG) and returns around 45mpg. A diesel will return closer to 60mpg at similar speeds, but you'll pay a slight premium at purchase, it will not be as refined, and diesel may attract additional tax/levies in years to come.

At 30K miles per year, diesel is the best option for you. My car will only cover 6-8K, so petrol was best for me. Horses for courses.

Two of colleagues have just got company Superbs. One a 1.4TSI and one a 2.0 diesel. I have driven both some distance (about 2/3rd of the way across France) - the 1.4 is easily (and surprisingly) the nicest engine. Much quieter and smoother, even if the diesel felt more familiar pulling away (I have a diesel currently). Power wasn't an issue even in such a large car.

The owner of the diesel Superb now regrets his decision (especially as he is paying more tax) and I'm definitely going for the 1.5 TSI Karoq.

Don't forget that the diesel surcharge has gone up to 4% from this month.

Thank you, it's interesting to hear how the two compare in the same car, not sure if the Karoq weighs much more than the Superb. I have test driven the 1.5TSI but not much at motorway speeds, I'll have to arrange another test drive. I'm used to torque in my diesel AUDI which is what I'm worried about losing all though on paper the Karoq is similar for acceleration.

Will you be going for manual or DSG as I'm opting for DSG whichever car I go for (also mulling over Octavia estate VRS TDI)

Do not forget the 1.4TSI engines will be discontinued.

Petrol engines will have Real World Test results and will be fitted with GPF's.

Some Diesel Engines will be going as well, and those that remain will have the Real World Testing Results and the VED Bands that should apply,

not those that have been applied since the start of this month and that really are nothing to do with anything really just old type EU Test results.
