New Mk1 VRS owner .

Featured Replies

Hi

First time Octavias VRS owner.

Car is cool as hell. always loved the way they look. its got a few issues.

Door lock faulty O/S/F

Mirror adjuster broken

Window faulty N/S/F

Water leak OSR door leading to soaked carpet on OS

Boost cut and hesitation,

Geometry off , car pulls.

L/F tyre is wrong size !

Possible L/F suspension damage .

Speakers are rubbish, be wanting to replace them

Ive bought a pair of new ebay key and swapped over the remote innards and transponders, changed the key blades , all sorted.

Suspension is a bit wobbly, saying this i dont want a super sharp race car, maybe swap in some new stock shocks .

Drivers seat base has a hole so want that replacing .

I'm a long time mechanic that now works for an insurance company as a motor engineer , i dont get my hands dirty at work anymore .

I'll be fixing my car on my own, i've plenty of experience and only need a little help with stuff.

Plans are to sort the small issues and maybe delete the SAI  and egr and charcoal canister etc, maybe fit a catch can and dump all the crap under the inlet

I've excperience in these engines due to fitting one into my Mk2 Golf myslef, wiring it, making inlets and exhausts.

Things i am after ..

TIP turbo inlet pipe for the AUQ Black only please , pref a Badger5 one ..

possible exhaust DP 3" decat .

Better speakers

Drivers seat base.

loads of other stuff.....

Anyway i will stop rambling ...

@SLIMWADEY - You maybe already know this, but a lot of the issues you mention point to the wiring and/or connectors in the driver's door.

Also I'd fit a correct size tyre LF; I don't know if this is the case on yours but at least some Octys on 16s and 17s have a full-size spare on a steel wheel so you can at least isolate whether or not the pull is just the wrong size tyre before spending any money.

Hi Ken

Ive had a good look and removed the drivers door lock ., was some damp in the plug and i stripped the lock down. it locks but wont unlock. microswitch is ok. newe lock ordered. but ill keep the OEM lock as i may be able to repair. new lock is ebay cheap so may go wrong.

Just before i bought the car the previous owner hit a pothole and screwed up the alloy , he replaced the alloy and tyre and didnt realise the 17" tyre was slightly wrong.

My car has a space saver not a full size sadly . i'll get it on the Hunter at work and do a Geo check once the tyre is swapped out .

Sadly it's got Budget tyres all round so will never handle great.

@SLIMWADEY - OK, you also have to continuity check the wires that run through the a-post bellows to the door.

Also, even with a Hunter you'll not work miracles on the suspension, because there's not a whole lot of adjustments you can do.
