2006 VRS TFSI p0087

Featured Replies

Hi, I have the above concern on my VRS which has covered 64000 miles with a full skoda service history.

Just recently I have had the inlet camshaft chain and tension replaced, also i had the cam follower replaced as precaution, there was no wear or very little on the original follower and cam lobe.

A week later we have had the EML light and intermittent loss of power. So I removed the HPFP to double check and again there seems to be no wear to the cam lobe. After putting it all back together again the car ran fine, I.e. when warm I gave it a good blast and let  the engine cool down four an hour. Started ok with no hiccup.

This morning drove into town and collected some packages returned to the car and the EML light came back on.

I have monitored the fuel pressure with ODIS and noted that the fuel pressure  HIGH side was around 19-23 bar before i removed the HPFP. After replacement it was at 50 bar. The low side when faulty was around 6 bar which indicates the low side is ok.

I know that the CAM follower is a common problem on these engines but if this is ok has anybody experience the HPFP to fail internally?

Thanks for any input it will be much appreciated

An update. Replaced the HPFP on a whim and the fuel pressure was at 50 bar on idle i noticed that if I let the car over run when coating from say 50 mph down to 35 mph the pressure will drop down to 7 bar. and when on full throttle In 4th gear the pressure seems to struggle to get above 25-30 bar. Should The pressure retain full 100 bar when at WOT?

Hi would anyone know if the fuel rail should hold residual fuel rail pressure at 50 bar and above with heat soak? Mine drops down to 7 bar the same as the low side.
