1.5 SE Tech manual just delivered - 1st impressions

Featured Replies

Only done 8 miles but very impressed, coming from a 2015 Mk1 Tiguan TDI150.

The Skoda has an immensely better engine, the ride is superb in no small part thanks to the 17' wheels and balloon tyres. Ecomomy is incredible and I wasn't trying. It switched to 2 cyclinders half the time.

Steering/handling was fine, the added roll is not an issue as it's well damped and weight transfers don't seem to bother it.

Really impressed by the media screen thing.

It feels a little bit cheap in places perhaps but nothing obvious/shocking.

Why is the airbag light always on near the climate controls ? Do I need to turn them back on somewhere ?

Great to here that Nick, glad you're enjoying it.

Cheers. Amusingly the car came with AO markings (Audi approved) tyres. Turanza T001. They already have plenty of grip despite being green / not scrubed.

Re airbag light. The manual suggests that if it's showing like that it's deactivated

Thank you kindly!

White seems a popular colour. There are three 18-plate cars reside down my street, all SUV's (Evoque, Kuga, and my Karoq), and all are white. My airbag was also set to off upon delivery - not sure whether this is some new delivery/safety requirement.

To be fair I would have preferred to save the £10/month for white and go for free blue but wife did not like it. Free flat black would have been my choice like on my A4.

Had another decent drive and couldn't go under 45mpg despite driving "normally". This is what our TDI150 returned in the MK1 Tiguan. I appreciate this was an inherently heavier car but half of that higher mass was probably down to the engine.

The 1.5TSI renders the 2.0TDI obsolete IMO.

Only real downside is that they have spent a lot of money making sure the NVH are only 80% as good as the Tiguan's. It does feel a little IKEA at times but you can't have it all.

I can't get to grips with the ACC yet. Can it be dumbed down to normal cruise ?

Cheers. Funnily enough, 2 other Karoqs arrived in the street this week. Based on that they should be a commercial success, unsurprising considering the VFM they offer

So.... 3 Karoqs in one street? I have yet to see one one the road yet!! And yes to VFM!

Hi Nickfrog. I have a same model as you. Does your car pull away smoothly in 1st or 2nd gear from standstill.Do the revs drop around 1250 rpm and the car kangaroos forward?

Hiya. No it doesn't and having read about the issue I really looked for it but has never happened. Sorry to hear that yours is affected. Must be frustrating!!
