leaky lightswitch (bonnet grommet?)

My octy has been taking on water recently.

I think the rubber for the rubber grommet has gone and there's a substantial gap exposing the cable.

What are my options?

Is it possible to detach the cable and get a new grommet in there?

I just put a blob of plumbers gold around the thing. Seems not to leak any more

Can't open driver's window without holding onto button

65 Reg Octavia estate All my other windows work ok but on the driver's door window I have to hold down the button until the window is fully open. A quick press of the button closes it just fine but opening is the problem. There's no info in the manual that helps I can't help thinking I've had this problem before and somehow solved the problem but I can't remember how. My online research suggested holding the button down until it opened fully and continue holding for a few seconds, then closi

Hi, Not having much joy resolving my ABS issues. SKODA SUPERB (3V3) 2.0 TDI (110 kW / 150 hp), 2016, 150K miles ABS issues started with poor battery on start, battery has been replaced and coded, issue remains. Can see issue is with rear left, on my reader due to wheel speed being 1/3 the other wheels. Fault would appear after 25 meters of driving. Replaced rear left sensor and wheel bearing (magnetic ring mostly disintegrated). Now 0 wheel speed on rear left. 10.5 volts on FL, RR and RL

2017 octavia 2.0 tdi . smoke from exhaust, whistling noise from turbo, burning oil. smoke looks whiteish/blueish. turbo pipes all ok. burning alot of oil. no fault codes or eml lights. only light on dash is orange oil can light

Hi, The boot release switch in the tailgate keeps getting stuck. I've tried blowing it out with compressed air etc but have just purchased this part. Is the skoda scala slave cylinder concentric and located inside the gearbox for all models, or is it just the 1.5 engine which doesn't have it on the outside of hte gearbox? I'm seeing different reports about whether the gearbox needs to be removed to check or replace it on a 1.0 litre engine.
