Problems, problems and more problems

Featured Replies

I'd like to start this post by saying I love the bear, Having been a Superb Owner in the past I was expecting great build quality, simple controls and a great gear box.

Added to this the lane assist, ACC, pano sunroof, huge clear sat nav, 7 seats, 4x4 LED headlights, it was everything I wanted and I like the Mag brown colour, it brown in the sun and black in the dark, and makes a change from the white cars I've been having.

However so far the dealer forgot to order park assist, and having never sent me an invoice to review the car was built before I got to see the spec. Then then offered to reorder the car for me, but couldn't offer the same deal - Neither could anyone else, so not the end of the world, but I like toys.

On the first trip out the SOS systems failed, and the car never stops telling me, every time you start it and each time it thinks I may have forgotten about the permanent orange light on the dash.

Took it to the dealers, yes it a problem, no we can't get the parts. parts came in a month later, booker tha car in, three days later, the parts didn't come in, would you like your car back we have no idea when they'll come.

Waited another month and had the first snow, to find out the sunroof leaks, and not a bit, like a water fall into the boot from both side where the drain tubes run behind the trim.

So now booked in for two issues, also mentioning pitting to the alloys and a creaking from the front end, not major but needs to be looked at.

Car went in, SOS fixed, but without any parts, just a loose connector (which Skoda assist say should have been replaced not reconnected.) But no luck finding an issue with the sunroof.

this went on for 4 more weeks of them having the car and talking to Skoda UK. The it snowed while they had the car and they determined it was freezing weweather in the downpipes causing them to get blocked. Parts ordered but not ready so they keep the car for a few more weeks. The parts were additional insulation, not a fix to the physical pipes.

7 weeks after going in, the cars now 12 weeks old, I get it back, but without the alloys sorted, or the creak from the front (only at slow speed and when its cold.)

To top all this off every part of trim and the headlining has been damaged by tool marks from the work so has to go back in for it all replacing.

And the primary key, the shiny one is now faulty and needs to be replaced according to Skoda assist.

The radio keeps loosing the presets too.

The fix to the sunroof can be checked until it next snows, and the car needs at least another week in the dealers, keys are 14 days to come through and they need the car to program them.

To be honest as much as I love the Kodiaq I've completely fallen out of love with mine, its just riddled with problems and I'm spending most of my time in an Octavia worth half the cost of my can, and its an giant advert for a dealer thats does substandard work. Not to mention 3 people have tried to get in the courtesy car assuming its a taxi!

I'm tempted to reject it at this point and start over, I love the seats in the Sportline, but to get the level of trim I have now the config tool comes out at over £40k.

Am I unique having these problems? my Superb had one issue and two services, I been tot the dealers more times in 3 months with the Kodiaq than I did with the Superb in 3 years.

Also the eco mode on the superb and Octavia stays locked in, on the Kodiaq it stays in eco on the mode select but shows D on the dash and no coasting on the dash so its not working either.

Who is the dealer?

A lot of this is due to a fairly poor dealership experience.

Faults and problems will happen, it's how they are dealt with that makes the world of difference.

Is/was the Superb + Octavia manual gearboxes? It seems to be a quirk of the DSG - the 'engine' or 'drive' mode remains set to Eco (or Sport), but the Gearbox mode always returns to 'Normal' (D) when starting the engine. You can tell from the responsiveness of the throttle that the 'drive' mode is still in whatever you left it in, but the coasting seems to be a function of the gearbox being in Eco, so you do have to remember to reset it every time.

As for the rest of the issues, I would be writing a letter to the dealer clearly explaining all of your issues, how unsatisfactory their service has been, and give them a timeline to fix the car of all remaining problems - stating that if they do not do this, you will be rejecting the car. If it's on finance, send a copy to VWFS too. And it wouldn't hurt to send a copy to Skoda UK as well.

Thanks for the advice, Skoda customer services are involved as my local dealer is not the suppling dealer so the work isn’t been done by the dealer that supplied it.

Vwfs arent involves because I speced this car as a keeper and paid cash.

Feel for you Harry, I'd be gutted. As probably the second largest purchase anyone can make and a reliability necessity these issues really shouldn't arise. Shame on the dealer/Skoda..

That possibly complicates things although the dealer doing the work seems to be the main cause of the issues! Of course the ordering error is very much the fault of the supplying dealer.

I agree and the ordering error I could have refused to take, so I’m happy I had a choice.

It it just feels like a car built on Friday afternoon.

What do you nean pitting to the alloys, do you have pics? What was the dealers response to this? Is

I'd be rejecting the car if I were you.

I do, but need to get them on my PC to post.

One has what looks like a stone chip but is perfectly round and through the top coat,

The other is the same but under the top coat.

All are scrappy where the paint meats the diamond cut edges.

Skoda have requested a survey from the body shop to take paint depth reading and will review.

Which alloy wheels did you go for?

The standard Triglav alloys for the Edition model or the free alternative, the Sirius?

Triglav...
