Rear silencer mounting

Featured Replies

Hi folks

Had a rattling under my car which turned out to be the exhaust heat shield which had corroded through its mounts and fallen onto the rear silencer. I've fixed this but when I was under the car I spotted that the rear silencer rear mounting is mangled (not the rubber mount, that's fine, the metal connection that fits into the rubber and somehow connects onto the rear silencer). A previous owner has obviously done a bodge job with some wire but here's my question. Could any post a picture of what the rear mounting is supposed to look like? I cant figure it out from the twisted metal that's left but it doesn't much look like what the Haynes Manual shows.

Cheers

Thanks. That last link is pretty much what the Haynes manual shows. The silencer seems to have a metal arm that connects into the rubber mount. The metal is there, but mangled, and i can't see where it would have connected to the silencer, no obvious point it's snapped from.

Take a pic?
