Tar spot removal

Featured Replies

Gave my car a fettle at the weekend.

Tried a couple of products to remove the tar spots, Simoniz tar remove and Bilt Hamber surfex used neat.

Neither worked to any satisfaction and I ended up using brake cleaner.

What product can you recommend?

Cheers

Andy

Have a look through this subsection as there is a live thread all about this.

Here’s the link I very, very quickly found

A small dab of white spirit on a cloth or cotton bud does the trick, always gets it off and haven't damaged the paint yet.

Looks like it's going to be Tardis, although I have to admit I am tempted to use white spirit simply for the convenience/cost.

Cheers guys,

Cheers guys,

Got to be worth a go before buying the Tardis I reckon....not tried that myself if I’m honest.

Maybe try it and post some before and after pics with your experience?!

White spirit won't hurt the paint but it may remove any protection that you have on the car, although a cotton bud's worth is probably manageable. :)

Think I will give the WS a shot. I always re apply the wax after a decon.

Carpro Tar X or Autosmart Tardis always the 2 i reach for.

Thanks
