does 'combi' just mean estate?

Featured Replies

trying to buy a towbar for my mk1 octavia estate, some are listed as 'estate', some are listed as 'estate combi', is there any difference?

Combi just a Continental Europe term for an estate.   Lost in translation sometimes!

Unless a Vauxhall Combi type light goods vehicle.

Estate and combi are the same thing. Tow bars from the hatch will fit too though.

thank you.

@sir guy - Formally no, but depending on manufacturer and market any of combi, estate (car) and "station wagon" might be used.

If, however, you are on a hippie trail with a head full of Zombie and your vehicle is fried-out, then it's a totally different kind of Combi! ;)

Particularly if you meet strange women who make you apprehensive and cook your morning repast.

Funny you mention food... for I often purchase baked goods from tall Belgian body-builders, of whom I do enquire as to their vernacularial concurrence, only to receive warm facial expressions and bakery-clad yeast extract...

And females who emit a soft light, followed by regurgitating their last meal?

Not entirely... Females do emit light, but only when the lads ransack something. It's usually the blokes that vomit and then only when hoppy beverages run forth. You sound like you're talking more about Essex...

Combi roughly translates as "I am a loser who thinks I am above just calling it what it is, which is an estate"

Hope that helps.

Not that in Germany it's called Touring for some reason.

But what do I know, here in North it's called (literal translation) 'farmer', shortened from 'farmer's car'.
