Kamiq and Kodiaq GT announced

What on earth us that thing? And what's the point of it over say an estate superb or octavia?

You have seen the SUV coupes from BMW + Mercedes, no? Completely pointless, but popular amongst the people with more sense than money. It seems like a strange segment for Skoda to get into, but I guess things are different in China - I would be absolutely gobsmacked if we saw it in Europe at any point, despite Mr Maier's statement.

 

I'm more interested in this Kamiq - is this the Vision X or something that might provide more hints towards it? I really want Skoda to get on and launch their Arona / T-Roc equivalent because we will very soon be looking to replace the wife's car and quite fancy something that size (but not a T-Roc as that would end up costing as much as my Kodiaq did!).

A Skoda dealer told me last week that there will be a new small SUV launched next year, and it would be called the Yeti! I have my doubts that they would abandon the "K" theme, but he was sure.

On that basis, all SUVs are pointless, including the Kodiaq. If I was being completely logical, the VW Touran offers a much more practical interior space for us than the Kodiaq, and it’s cheaper. But we ordered a Kodiaq instead. I guess I have more money than sense...

I'm not sure I'd agree with that, to be honest. The Kodiaq is very practical, and it has the distinct advantage that it doesn't look like a minibus.

You and me both . But the fact I bought a Skoda shows that I still have some sense, and not that much money!
