Clutch pedal didn't spring back up

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. During a journey today after making a gear change the clutch pedal didn't sping back to the normal position, it was a lot lower, almost at the floor.

I pulled over after a little while and a few clutch'less gear changes, and pulled the pedal back up manual and it's been fine for the rest of the day.

Is this the sign of something about to fail? Is it just the spring on the pedal box or something more serious?

If you have look round you'll probably find a leak in the system, the seals in the master cylinder have gone or the pedal itself has broken (a common fault). Repair the problem and bleed with a pressure bleeder (Gunsons  eezibleed). If you try to bleed the system using the pedal only, then you'll find the pedal goes to the floor and stays there until you pull it back up.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply was starting to think no one cared

It hasn't done it again since the first time and I've covered a few hundred miles since so hoping it was just a one off,  but will keep an eye on it. Its only my back up/run around car.

Keep a eye out and happy motoring.

Dave.
