EGR Valve

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if there is a common fault with EGR valves on VW group cars after they have had the emissions recall done to them. My Octavia VRS seems to have developed a fault.

The fix tends to work the EGR valve more to reduce combustion temperature and therefore NOx.

A few people have reported issues after the fix and some have had it repaired for free under the trust building measure. I'd try contacting your dealer assuming it's less than 2 years since you had the fix done and your car has 160k or less: http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/dieselinfo/trust-building-measure

Thanks for the reply. My Skoda Caffyns garage in Tunbridge Wells seem to be reluctant to change the EGR valve as the fault is intermittent, although their diagnostics does say there is a EGR valve fault?

Might be worth contacting Skoda UK directly to see what happens.

I have spoken to SKODA customer services and they say the fault has to be permanent, but when I turn the car off and on again the system resets. I have found the Certificate of Completion and this a problem that they are very aware of, and they say that customer trust and satisfaction is their priority ?! Spoken to customer care at SKODA and they are not budging either.

Time to get them some bad publicity by contacting the motoring press?
