Alarm no audio / beep on door lock

Featured Replies

Went for a remap the other week, didn't take very well after the initial drive. Car took 2 attempts to start each time so had the original file but back on. Anyway it had a few bugs afterwards that sorted themselves out but this one seems an issue, could be coincidence or could be a repair.

Current issue is the audio beep/pip not working on locking the car and the alarm having no audio. The alarm works, the doors have the red lights and the external lights flash but there is no audio. Is it possibly the remap turned something off or is it an alarm speaker replacement?

If it is the factory alarm then could have been something gone wrong but it is strange though....

Could just try change just the siren module or not sure if any fuse controls that?

Yeah just factory alarm. Could be coincidence and these alarm sirens apparently only last around 6 years and mine is 8 years now.

Not sure about the fuses, I'll see what I can find out!

I'm more inclined to think that it just needs re-enabling with VCDS. I can't remember 100% if it was even a standard feature. :worried:

Well either way the alarm should sound and it doesn't either, I'm thinking the alarm siren has gone.

If you have maxidot  (not sure if it was standard or an option on the VRS) then you may be able to switch the lock/unlock chirps on/off through one of the menu's, although i can't remember which one.

My current L&K has had them switched on since i bought it.

Thanks for the reply, yes there is an option in the convenience section of the maxidot, I have it on. Turned it on and off a few times to ensure the setting stuck.

As the car alarm makes no audio noise when it goes off yet it works and the lights flash it seems to be the alarm siren potentially?

Sorry took so long to answer, been to to Hastings for the annual Mayday bike run, any way back on subject; it could well be a blown alarm siren, worth a try as i think they are not that expensive.

No problem, 40 days for one from Ali express, they are on ebay but don't want 2nd hand in case this happens again :/

Enquired at Skoda, £260.52 for the repair. Part alone is £147.72.

TPS sell it at £142 but there would be 10%-20% off going through trade.

I am going to get my uncles garage to do the repair, I don't want a used part and 40 days wait for the part from aliexpress is a long time. Also I don't know as a matter of fact it is the alarm siren.
