Air bag error

Featured Replies

Hi all. Just returned from a long motorway trip.. Got to the first stop after 90 miles and the engine cut off as normal. When it started again the airbag error light came on and has done every time i stopped the engime and restarted.. Luckily was only a couple of miles from home

I have noted that the passenger airbag light has been light near the gear stick since i got the car.. Can anyone advise? Obviously will be contacting my dealer asap although guess they are closed tomorrow..any pointers wpuld be appreciated

Sounds like your passenger airbag is disabled.

You can turn it on with the switch on the side of the dash when you open the passenger door.

Turn it with your car key to the on position.

If you are getting an airbag error message though the only way to find out whats wrong is to read the fault codes out of it.

You’ll need a diagnostic tool for that.

Cheers ill look for the slot to switch the airbag in. Ill go to my local dealer today and have them check it

My passenger airbag light has been lit since I got the car. I checked the little switch last Saturday and it had been disabled. AFAIK, the airbags are disabled for transit and should have been re-enabled as part of PDI, looks like my passenger side airbag was overlooked.

Same here. I wonder how many are left off unchecked?

On older Fabias, it is on the panel on the side of the dash as you open the passenger door.It looks just like a key switch and you use the main key to turn it on or off. Off will de-activate it. It is normal for lights to come on but they should go off quite soon after starting the car. I do not know if stop-start cars will be lit up like Christmas trees, every time you , well- stop-start !

The lights don't change - the checks take place when the ignition is first switched on, as opposed to when the engine fires up.

Thats good to know... It would be a major PITA if they did. How does the audio cope, too? Will this stop-start or is the stop-start over ridden? It is common for audio to pause during ignition, to preserve energy for starting, along with lights reverting to sidelights.

Everything stays on as normal
