I'm running 18" Team Dynamics 1.2s on my Mk1 Octavia VRS (Estate) albeit with 225/35 tyres. Suspension is currently standard so there's plenty of space in the arches for them and there aren't any issues on full lock. There used to be a silver VRS estate in Exeter (haven't seen it for ages though) that was running 225/40 tyres on 18s and that was lowered too but didn't appear to have rubbing issues. I guess it depends on the ride height to a degree but the offset sounds about right. Some people run 19" wheels on their Octavias with LOW profile tyres but that's a little big for me.
