VRS Diesel Rhythmic Shuddering

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

About 6/7 weeks ago I purchased a 57 plate Diesel Octavia VRS with 51k on the clock, well looked after and serviced regularly.

Now it is acting strangely when I accelerate in and around the 1.5k -3k rev range in 1,2 and 3rd gears only.  It seems to accelerate and decelerate in a slowly increasing rhythm until I pass 3k where it drives fine. Like a smooth shuddering.

No issues at all when travelling in 4th, 5th or 6th or accelerating through the rev range in those gears.

To add to this, after a couple of weeks of short journeys a warning light came on (P0471 code for Exhaust Pressure Sensor) and a few days later a DPF light. The manual said to do a 15 minute high rev drive, and both the lights cleared. I have had no further lights for 4 weeks.

Not sure how relevant that is.

Beyond reluctantly taking it the garage I’m not really sure where to start?

Has anybody experienced or heard of anything similar, or have a better knowledge of cars to point me in a good place to look myself first?

Thankyou
