Oversized Rear Number Plate

Featured Replies

I appreciate opinions will vary, but it is something I'm considering.

I quite like the oversized (21" x 6") rear number plates that seem to be increasingly popular on premium SUV's, such as the latest Range Rover's.

The Kodiaq has a large area around the rear number plate so I think it will work OK.

It's a long shot, but has anyone already done this, if so do you have any pictures?

Here are a couple of Range Rover images...

They fit funny sized ones to the quirky little Hyundai coupe thing, along with some Jags, too. I quite like them if they are cut and fit well. Otherwise they look naff!

I must admit I eventually warmed to the bespoke shaped rear plates fitted to the Rover 75 and Jaguar S-Type / X-Type and more recently the XF...

I'm not a fan of shortened plates though, a step too far for me...

The smaller the better.

It's not mine, but lives on something else now.

Nah, I'm the opposite, the bigger the better :D

If no pictures forthcoming why not make up a card template and place it on the back of your car. Could look ok but without seeing the size on the back of the car it is hard to gauge if it works. Interesting idea .. have to say I like the slimmer plates myself but all personal preference ..

Just to keep this thread updated.

I bought an oversized rear plate (21x6") to see what it looked like...

From the dealer, standard size...

With the oversized plate...

(I know I need a black screw, work-in-progress. The pre-drilled threaded inserts on the boot lid deserves a separate thread of its own!)

The wife isn't a fan, I quite like it.

As an aside the plates are aluminium, sharp edges and quite flimsy. I'll be getting some perspex ones.

Maybe you suffer with Micropsia and do not realise it

Had to Google that one...

Not sure I see the issue to be honest.

Do you not like my new Fabia? Not sure why Skoda badged it up as a Kodiaq though!

You poor things. Look at the sample the choices we have in NSW, Australia.

That’s just a small sample of what you can choose.

The plain black and white one would look great on a black Kodiaq like mine!

Yes. I’ve ordered the quartz grey so there is a grey base with black lettering with my personalised lettering, so it should look nice.
