Server cages

Featured Replies

We don't have room at my work to put our server in a 19" rack, so it's a tower that lives inside a cage bolted to the floor. Unfortunately, we're getting a new server, and aren't able to spec one with a case small enough to fit in our existing cage. I wasn't here when the original cage was ordered, no-one knows where it came from, and the invoice went to our off-site archive years ago. A search on t'internet's turned up one company that makes them (and dozens that claim to, but actually don't), but I don't want to place an order after getting only one quote.

Does anyone on here know where might be a good place to look?

And what is the purpose of this cage? Just security, or does it provide power, etc?

Just physical security for the server itself (or more accurately the data on the server's hard drives).

While we'd obviously be bothered if our UPS, router, firewall etc. were nicked, they don't need to be inside the cage as the hardware isn't really what we're protecting.
