Query on under engine splash guard (for want of a better description?)

Hi all,

My girlfriend just got a 3 year old Citigo and when I was taking a look in and around the engine I noticed that I can see through down through the back of it to the road below. Surely this isn't normal?

Can anyone confirm for me whether they have the same or whether in a previous service the garage took off a "splash guard" (I have no idea what it should be called, apologies) and simply forgot to put it back on.

Apart from this, we have been loving the car. It's a fantastic little motor.

Thanks to all in advance and I hope you are all enjoying the sun!

I don't think the engine cover goes any further than the back of the front subframe on a citigo so I would say it is normal

Exactly the same on mine.

Not familiar with Citygo cars but the item you mean is called the under tray. Some versions are longer then others but there will be a bit of read visible even on a fairly big one. I have a Fabia Greenline and it has a fair sized one, supposedly for reducing drag, along with similar plastic underbody trays on the left and right. Still see some road surface though, so quite normal.

Handy for the air flowing through the radiator to have somewhere to exit.

Thanks guys! Such speedy responses and that has put our minds at ease now. Much appreciated.

The gap will only cause a problem if you reverse at high-speed through deep-water.

'Simply Clever',  do not go in if too deep then you will not need to reverse out, and if you do do not do it at speed.

Cheers guys! At first thought that might seem farcical, but with our weather, there could well be times where that would be something to think about so thanks for the info.

In any case I will ask the missus not to take the car out in sharknado style weather:)
