Service light.

Featured Replies

Hello I got an 64 plate Fabia in October just curious to know will a service light come on the dash when it's due it's service? I bought it from a Škoda Garage if that helps. Thank you.

On my Maxidot dash when 800 miles or 20(?) days from the service you get a countdown of days/miles in the central display every time you switch on the ignition.

With the standard LCD dash a little spanner appears presumably at the same interval.

Not sure which dash you have?  Maxidot has a fuel gauge dial at the bottom of the speedo and temperature gauge at the bottom of the rev counter.  The standard LCD dash has a vertical LCD bar fuel gauge and no temperature gauge.

It will ping on startup and a spanner appears in the lcd panel to the left of the trip meter. A message OIL or INSP will appear for a minute or two after start.

On Maxidot the message is clearer easier to understand something like "Service due in xxxx" or "Service Now"

Pre-warning messages appear on startup for a minute or two about 800 miles or 14 days before its actually due.

This all assumes the service indicator was reset correctly and honestly at the last service. It does not guarantee that the service was carried out as anyone can reset the indicator without doing anything.

You can check when the service is due by pressing the LH "pages" button on the dash 3 times (1st 2 presses are for setting the clock). The dash will first display how many miles (rounded to nearest hundred) left and after around 5-10 seconds it will show how many days left. Negative numbers indicate overdue along with the spanner symbol.
