Random misfire on my Mk2 Octavia vrs tsi

Featured Replies

I’m hoping someone can help because I’m at my whits end. I have a 59 plate Octavia vrs and I keep getting random misfires and loss of power plus the car gets smokey and the engine management and epc lights come on . Now I’ve changed the coil pack and the camshaft sensor and even had a terra clean and the problem seemed to go away for a while. But the past few weeks it’s starting to do it again. I have noticed it’s more so when it’s damp or wet out side. Could someone place help me

Any body

Have you had the car scanned?

This would be the first thing I did before throwing parts at the car.

Yeah I’ve had it plugged in a few times and every time the misfire is on a different cylinder

So what are the fault codes?

P0304 cylinder failure

P130A cylinder shut off

P119A which was the fuel pressure sensor but I’ve changed that and made no difference

My first thought would be an injector/fuel issue. If the misfire moves cylinder, that rules an injector problem out.

Maybe worth getting the fuel pressure checked, as could be pump related .

I’ll get that done. I’ve also heard that the pcv could be the problem
