Octavia 2 rs won't start, no dashboard lights when that happens

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

For a week or two i have problems with my car, it seems like computer looses power and symptoms are either:

a) few times when i stopped at gas station, came back put in the key and no dashboard lights appear and when i turn the key to start engine nothing happenes.

Then i wait until everything turns off(display at steering wheel, radio..) and then sometimes it goes back to normal, but today it didnt. I was trying to lock my car, wait for display off, unlock and then i managed to start it.

b ) while i am driving engine stops and no dashboard lights are working. Fan blower doesnt work, but outside lights, windows up/down works..

I also noticed last 2 times when i got power back the ecu seems restarted. I have AC compressor turned off(economy mode-need to fix AC) and it goes back to normal when i get power back. Usually economy doesnt turn off with restarting the car and is permanently turned off if i set it that way.

I will look at my aftermarket radio first, maybe there is some bad connection. But it was working normally until now since i installed radio. Thats like a year or two..

Any ideas?

At sunday engine stopped like 3 times, then up till today afternoon everything was fine. Then i couldnt start it at gas station and when i did after 2km it died while driving.. I think that everytime when it happens it takes longer to get it back working.

Id be really happy if someone could help me about it, hope i can solve it myself. Am short on money atm :)

Thanks,

Matevz

So I got home today and ate my launch then went out figuring whats going on.

First i couldnt get my car to fault when i put in the key and turned several times.

Then i turned on engine and let it run for about 5mins. After turning off the problem started to appear.

It seems like the longer i let the engine off the quicker power gets back on by itself when turning off the key and back. I made a video how it looks:
