Dry Bushes

Featured Replies

Just want to get some advice/other people's opinions and experience on this.

My Octy Scout has just passed its MoT. The horrendous noise coming from the front which I thought may lead it to fail has been diagnosed as dry bushes.

They have suggested lubricating the bushes, rather than replacing them as that normally sorts it. They will undertake the work for an hours labour - £40. He wasn't able to give a firm price on what it would cost to replace them, but it could prove expensive.

I don't want to replace them unless I really have to as I've just spent £600 replacing two brake calipers and four discs and pads, £380 to replace NSF coil spring/4 wheel alignment and brake fluid change. I'm booked in to have the Cambelt and Waterpump replaced next month.

Oh, and the Haldex and AC service is due before December.

TIA

Many thanks for the tip.

The guy I use for Mot's has picked up things that my two local Skoda dealerships stated were fine; leaking rear diff being one of them.  He was also able to replace two calipers and four discs and pads with only a two day wait, whereas the local Skoda Dealership couldn't fit me in for over a fortnight.

So for the sake of £40 I thought I'd throw some funds his way.

I was just interested to see if anyone else had resolved the issue I'm experiencing with the process the garage had suggested.
