My Fabia MK III periodically has a squeaky sound when using the clutch. It only appears sometimes, and I have not yet determined the pattern. Maybe it happens more in cold weather, maybe it happens more in wet weather, and maybe it only happens after driving longer distances. I am not entirely sure.

Another periodic issue is that the steering wheel also sometimes emits a squeaky noise when being turned. This most often happens in cold weather, and most when only turning the steering wheel very slightly, i.e. when driving straight ahead and making slight corrections. It almost sounds as if there is a mouse squeaking in the car.

I have shown these videos to the dealer (the Fabia is still under warranty), and they have taken a look at the car without being able to find the source of the sounds. Has anyone else experienced something like this, or do you have any ideas as to what might be the cause?

Clutch: most likely bad or dry pedal bushings, but could also be the master cylinder. Does it feel odd underfoot?

 

Steering wheel: sounds either like trim rub or something's under-lubricated. Hard to tell because it could also be the power steering gear just beyond it.

 

Inform Skoda customer services and go back to the dealer, this isn't good enough.

The clutch itself feels normal underfoot, even when it makes the sound. 

Thanks for your input on the steering wheel as well.

 

I should say that both issues occur fairly rarely (which also makes it harder to troubleshoot). When looking back I have not actually heard these sounds at all since the colder months.
