Bluetooth streaming issues

Featured Replies

Hello guys , sorry of this sorted in another thread but I'm losing my mind , have a 2.0tdi yeti and when I first got the car about a year ago everything worked fine with the bluetooth , unfortunately now though it seems to have an issue , the phone connects and make calls and recived them fine , but now it would stream music , the phone ( samsung s7 ) is saying the phone is connected but not the media , have a done something in setting and turned it off , or is there an issue with the car , again sorry if this mentioned elsewhere , any help would be greatful.

Thanks

Adi

My S8+ did similar in the Astra.   It was after the car had a software update though, even though it showed as still connected.

Rebooting the phone reestablished the streaming.

Pretty sure I've seen a screen where there are 2 tick boxes, one of which is to to enable and disable audio streaming.

Thanks for the reply guys, I have reset the phones , factory reset the car , nothing seems to work . Cant find a option to turn streaming on or off , think ot may be a trip to the dealer

It's probably the settings on your phone. You'll need to go in to Settings, then Bluetooth. Then you should find a list of paired devices - hopefully there will be a settings icon (gear symbol) next to the car and if you click on that you should then be presented with a list of check boxes - something like 'phone audio' 'media audio' 'contact sharing' and 'message access' - make sure 'media audio is checked.

You'll have to forgive my slightly vague instructions - I don't have a Samsung phone and they like to customise their user interface so things can be in slightly different places from other Android devices

No you are correct , there is a setting on the Android for this , but when I turn the option on it goes straight back off , also the bluetooth media icon is on the cars head unit saying it's connected  , but nothing . The music streams from the phone to my other car fine , just not the yeti

Those options are device specific so you can select a different set of options for each paired device and they should have no bearing on the others. If it is going back off and not holding the setting it's probably one of two things: 1 the phone does not see the Yeti as being able to stream Bluetooth Audio for some reason, or 2 the Bluetooth settings on the phone have somehow got corrupted you could try clearing the cache on the phone. Thanks for the reply greenstripe , I have looked at the link , but the description on how to clear the bluetooth cache isn't correct for my s7 , I don't have the options listed , but I will keep looking now now i have an idea , thanks very much

If you have a Bolero (the version without a CD player) then it is almost certainly just a setting on the head unit.  We get the issue you describe quite often after we have had two phones connected via Bluetooth at the same time, one for the phone, one for streaming.  From memory, what you need to do is connect the phone via Bluetooth, then select Media then Source.  Do a long press on BT Audio, and you should get a list of recent phones (perhaps just up to the last two), with a tickbox option by the one you wish to stream from.

Thanks zib, I have the amundsen 2014 model , so the older style not the newer unit  ( I think that's how it's spelt lol ) in my yeti , I have reset the phones and the head unit and still nothing , even tried a different phone in case the was an issue with mine and wife's phones , still nothing , as I say calls etc all ok , just don't stream music, really don't want to replace the head unit with an after market version cause you lose so many features . I think it's a job for the dealers :-(
