IPod Connection

Featured Replies

Hello

I bought a Skoda Octavia 07 reg a couple of weeks ago. I am interested in purchasing a device to play my Ipod through the car speakers. I have seen various devices on some of the posts like a Dension Gateway Lite and a Kinivio device which allows Bluetooth connection but I'm not sure which to buy. The radio I have inside my car is a Stream MP3 but for a short term solution, I have been playing my Ipod whilst it's connected to the cigarette lighter socket. I would like a permanent fixture instead of the cigarette lighter socket.

Thanks

if you have the large centre console box (jumbo box) it may have an AUX socket in there, if so just buy an AUX cable and connect to the Ipods headphone socket and it will play through the speakers of the car, on the headunit i think you have to press the CD button a couple of times untill AUX comes up. It's been a while since i used the stream mp3 headunit as my current Octy has a bolero headunit.

There is no AUX socket in the centre console. I have tried looking through the glove box for the AUX In but I can't seem to find it. I did hear that there could be a 3.5mm jack on the Stream MP3 radio instead though.

thats the connection i mean, but ifs it not in the centre console then you don't have it. as the headunit itself does not have the jack.

What are the options to allow myself to play my Ipod in the car? I did see another option but it does involve in disconnecting the CD changer cable at the back of the Stream MP3 radio

Not many options on the system to be honest, when i had that headunit i had the AUX socket in the console (i have with my current Octy as well), i was going to replace with an aftermarket Android powered system with blue tooth built in, there usual some on ebay for notbad prices, if you go down that route it may or may not need coding in.

There are people on here who have fitted the columbus unit form the FL MK 2, these do need coding in, and can only be done using VCDS, no point using a bolero system as most don't have bue tooth (mine doesn't) and although not a bad unit. it is a bit basic, although the built in 6 disc changer helps a bit.

I have seen some Dension Gateway Lite products which may fit the Stream MP3 radio. Are these any good?

There are some being sold on Amazon. I have found a few installation guides. There is one for the normal Gateway Lite at www.dension.com/files/products/gateway_lite/gwl-9230-1_gateway_lite_install_web.pdf The other installation guide for the Gateway Lite BT is at www.dension.com/files/products/gateway_lite_bt/gbl-9230-1_gateway_lite_bt_install_web.pdf
