Auto Headlight Unit Problem

Featured Replies

I upgraded my headlight unit to an auto on found on a fabia etc and i believe it was working well but when driving through a tunnel i realised that when the sensor detects its dark it now switches both my headlights and my front fog lights on too. Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it?

You need to very quickly turn the headlights on normal, put fog lights on and then turn off, you need to do this at night and very rapidly, it's a glitch with the switch, I have the same problem, if you put headlights on, fogs on and then switch back to auto quickly, the fog lights at the front remain on (only front) you'll probably find at night the front fogs are on as well

@Hyphons i tried it last night with no luck. Did you manage to fix yours? I put the headlights on but do i need to put the front and rear fogs on or just does it not matter? and then switch them on and off quickly for how long? Also do i need to leave the knob on headlights and have the fogs on when i switch the engine off and then turn it back to auto? Sorry about all the questions

Once it dark enough I can do another video if it helps, that video would show me initiating the fogs being stuck on and then turning that off, it shouldn't matter if you put both fogs on, but I actually can't remember

Hopefully this video gives a rough guage of how quick to do it

Yeah if you dont mind but ill try later following the video and see if it does anything. Its pain when my fogs are on at the same time as my headlights at night. Much appreciated mate

Sorry for the delay, completely forgot :D

The video shows at the beginning, my front fogs are on (look for the yellow tint toward the ground) but the lights are set to auto

Switch the switch from auto to low beam, fogs on and back off to auto

Then you can see the fogs are off, the yellow tint on the ground is gone

It also doesn't matter if you put the rear fogs on too

Doesn't this defeat the object of auto-lights if you have to switch between settings every time it gets dark?

You don't need to switch between settings when it gets dark, the issue with the original poster is the fact his fog lights aren't switching off in "auto mode" to correct this you do need to switch to "low beam" flick the fog lights on, back off and then back into auto mode, this is a one time thing to resolve the problem, thereafter you can keep the lights in auto mode as the fog lights won't be on when in auto mode
