Hello all.

A brief history behind getting my first Skoda.

A couple of years ago, we were looking for a station wagon to fill the needs of a growing family. The Wife had only two requirements, which for some reason had to be taken into consideration as she was also going to drive it:

1. As a station wagon it cannot be black, resembles too much a hearse.

2. It definitely cannot be a Skoda.

So we ended up with a blue Ford Focus.

Then, a coupe of months back it was time to get another car to the family. This time it was all up to me. Didn't even take the Woman along to check out the options. As fate would have it, the one that suited me best from economic and driving point of view was definitely a Skoda. To make things even better, this 2003 Octavia was equipped with 1.8 liter turbo, quite a contrast to the almighty 1.6 with automatic transmission in the Focus.

So just a quick call to the Manager at home: "Honey, I've found it. I'll give it to you straight, you're probably not going to like it but it's a Skoda." Amazingly there were not too many objections from the other end of the line: If that's really what you want then go ahead. "Ok then, this is it. And by the way, it's also black and a station wagon. Bye!" Talk about rebellion... ;)

If you're still reading, I'm really looking forward to the summer. Currently with all that snow on the roads up here in the north I've only felt the traction control kicking in, no sign of turbo lags, or boosts, for that matter.

Glad you're enjoying your Octy - welcome to Briskoda! :wavey:

Hi Torspeedo

Welcome to the site :)

Glad to see you're keeping SWMBO (She who must be obeyed) in her place ;) Being a woman myself, I doubt your Honey will stay there for very long...

Enjoy your Skoda

Mo

Welcome. The 1.8T engine suits the Octavia very well and is readily tuneable. :D
