Manual boost controller

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Has anyone ever installed a manual boost controller to the 1.2 tsi fabia 5j?

I'm thinking of buying this one http://www.turbosmart.com/news/manual-boost-controller-installation

But I'm having some problems location the ports mentioned in the link?

Could someone please give some steps or guide that they may have please?

I'm not sure how the 1.2 TSI compares to the vRS but I have tried manual and electronic boost controllers a few times and had no success. The engines are very sensitive to overboost, not just at peak torque but anywhere in the rpm range. The car will go into a soft limp mode with no codes evident (even on vcds). I ran a log last time I tried it and if the car is in soft limp mode it will keep the diverter valve open anyway. If you then force the valve shut the car will run lean at anything over wastegate spring pressure. I gave up and reinstalled the factory boost controller...

I had an A3 with the older generation engine and got great gains by experimenting, but this new ECU seems to clever to have any fun with.
