Happy owner of a new Rapid

Featured Replies

Hello!

This morning I picked up my new Skoda Rapid - my fourth Skoda now having had a variety of Fabia's in the past before transgressing to Vauxhall (and deciding I hated my Astra after 18 months) so coming back to a brand which had (touch wood) never let me down and given me thousands of miles of happy driving.

Been out and put a few miles on the car today - very impressed with the little 1.2TSI - better performance than the lumpen 1.6 in the Astra (I have no idea how Vauxhall got so little performance out of such a big engine!!) and have even managed to climb into the boot with my daughter to have our photo taken to show how much room there is!

The forums have already helped me today by explaining what the Safe Lock warning I get every time I turn the engine off (locked myself in the car and made a mental note to flick the lock button twice if I leave anyone in there!!) and also by letting me know I can't change the KPH digital readout - which is a bit annoying but hey ho!

New mats and rubber boot mat on order off Amazon now - and I'm going to dig my old Fabia spare wheel which cost me many pounds from the local Skoda dealer to see if that fits later.  Then, even though the garage have done it, it's getting a wash and polish.  Just because!

Might not be the most active user on here but know it's going to be a really useful resource.

Cheers,

Tim

A warm welcome Tim!  Nothing like doing the washing and polishing yourself is there?

Dont forget to flick the wiper arm down when you turn off the ignition to wash the car. You can then lift the wipers off without hitting the bonnett.

How do you mean?

When you switch off, press once down on the wiper operating lever.  This should cause the wipers to move up until they are vertical and then they stop in that position until you next switch the ignition on when they will park down as normal.  There should be a bit about this in the owners' manual.

Will have to give that a try.

Had something similar with my Peugeot Partner work hirevan, used it in the heavy frosts (remember them?!) to use the wipers at vertical to secure poly screen cover plus green plastic mesh, for overnight frost control.

Just tried it and that’s quite smart as I did wonder how it would work changing a wiper blade.

Found out about that by accident with my old Fabia once when I caught the wiper arm! Does make life easier.

Glad to have helped for once:cool:
