Octavia VRS 2.0 TDI 170 BMN Cylinder Head

Featured Replies

Evening all, well Ive been having a dilemma with my Octy VRS 2007, it started smoking not long after me buying the car. Not long after the turbo failed, so at this oint I suspected the turbo was the reason for the smoke.

I therefore fitted a re-manufured turbo, changed the turbo feed pipe, cleaned sump, and did a full service. Well, 200 miles later the turbo failed again on me! So I was just a little bit pee'd off! To make it worse I was in the process of selling the car as I was due a company car but waiting my delivery date. So i've deliberated over selling the car for as it is, or maybe break the car to recoup some money.

In the end i've decided to have a stab at fixing the turbo/engine, so i've stripped the engine down to see what the cause of the blue smoke is, it has been burning oil chronic so I think the turbo failures are due to starvation.

So I was just wondering if anyone has had any issues with the cylinder head cracking between the valves? I think this may be the reason for the loss of oil, I'm replacing the rings, and bottom end. But just wondered peoples thoughts on whether its deffo scrap and the only alternative is a new head?

Cheers in advance
