Inconsistent Throttle

Featured Replies

As per title, was back in Scotland last week and noticed when turning sharp right then left on road to my mothers house that the throttle was inconsistent.

One time I could roll down through bends with no throttle pressure in 3rd gear at around 20mph no problem. Next time, same speed and gear, car is trying to accelerate, again with no throttle pressure.

Anybody else had same?

When in gear with the clutch engaged but not pressing the Accelerator pedal the ECU will maintain the idle engine speed to prevent the engine from stalling.

Its called "idle-drive" & it will vary based on the speed type but its something like idle +150/200rpm so something like 850/900rpm on mine.

I'd guess the first time you went round the corner the vehicle/engine speed was that little bit higher so no need for ECU intervention.

The second time you were a little bit lower & the ecu tries to keep the engine speed from falling.

This can feel like it is accelerating hard when you are not expecting it but in reality it will only incresae the engine speed a few rpm.

sorry bad typing, when i said "speed type" I meant engine type i.e. petrol, diesel, large, small etc
