mystery fault code

Featured Replies

Hi short and sweet post really, can anyone tell me what the fault/error code 17705 means cheers

P.S it's an 02' Octavia vrs if that is needed.

Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)

Its a common one, do a search on the site for 17705, theres loads of info.

Cheers Dave, that seems to fit the symptoms my car has been displaying. basicaly when pootling around with revs between 2 to 3 thousand the DV sounds loud, but when pressing on shall we say,;) you can hardley here it at all.

A mate of mine has bought a cheap fault code reader off fleabay! so we plugged it in, read the code and then erased it. Then i drove home with car feeling much brisker and DV back to a constant noticeable whoosh

So now I will have to wait and see how she goes.

Thanks for the help once again :thumbup:

Deleting the fault code shouldn't fix anything, the ecu registers a fault code when it detects it, if you delete it all you do is get rid of the fault code, the cause of the problem should be unchanged i.e. something should still be wrong. Have you checked the DV? I believe the test for the professional is to put the handbrake on, put some revs on then bring the clutch up to biting point, then back down from the biting point, then back up again etc. If you hear a fluttering sound then the DV is split. The other method involves sucking on the top pipe of the dv to see whether it holds vacuum.

Ok mate i will try that but i should have mentioned that i have a bailey dv30 so no diaphram to split! Is it still worth doing a test????

Coomon fault code that, many causes though. A search will furnish you with the answers.

Probably not but its a good excuse to give it a quick once over/service. As Lummox says, that fault code seems to cover a mulitude of sins, check out what others have been thru and the answer will probably be there somewhere!
