Stalling issue on Dsg.

Featured Replies

Hi,

After getting the cooling issue sorted with a warranty claim of a water pump i finally got my car back and starts to enjoy it again.  However i now have an issue of the car stalling.  This happens mainly when reversing off my drive way, as I stop the car drops revs and stalls. It will then advise to start manually. After that car seems fine. Done it about 3 or 4 times last week, is this common or do I need to get it back in at the dealer. Any help or advice would be great, like my tempreture issue, its always good to go in armed with some knowledge.

Thanks

Andy

Not common and if you did not have the issue before your car was in for the coolant then not common on your car so that is all the knowledge you need.

Leave the car and get your courtesy car until they get in a knowledgeable tech to fix it.

?

Was your car called in for the Service Campaign to change the coolant before then needing a water pump under warranty?

Hi

Yes it want if for just coolant change as this apparently is the recall process. After leaving the dealership it tempreture gauge increassed as it did before so i called and immediately they had the car back and replaced the water pump. Apparently there is a slider on top of the pump that gets clogged up so it wont open.

Yes the stalling issue has only becoming a problem since it had been in. I know they will think im making it up but its the truth. Seems to do it in reverse more than in forward gear.

Will call them this morning to see what is what. Must say on a positive note. Other than these niggles, The car is Fantastic, and the dealer up to now has also been brilliant, will see what the next outcome is.

Thank you

Disable start stop system with the button and try again to stall it?

Tried that, and has still stalled, its like it looked all power.

Bad battery maybe?
Reset the DSG to basic settings?

Did they do any software upgrades also?

How do I re set the DSG?

Yes maybe a duff battery. Waiting for Skoda service to call.

On my 3rd DSG box (Fabia vRS, Octavia & Karoq) and never had one stall once, would definitely get Skoda to check it out.

Dealer or VCDS or Obd11...

Try filming the car doing it as evidence for the dealer to see. I'm sure they'll believe you anyway.

Do no DSG reset.

Get the Dealership to rectify the Software Update or what ever was carried out and have the car fit for purpose.

They can communicate with Skoda CZ.

Do not let it turn into the Famous DQ200 Clutch Slip type fiasco where customer / owners have to do the trial and error.

2nd biggest car manufacturing group in the world must know when they co-ck up.

Not sure if this was fixed or not as it's been ~3 months since the last post, but I had similar issues on mine, however mine was a 5 speed manual. I was stalling the engine randomly and the car won't be able to start afterwards. I had my car for 2 and a half years and drove it for 43000 km but it would randomly stall on me and the restart engine feature would not work afterwards. Same for the stop / start system - it would stop ok but would not be able to start the engine back. Complained to the dealer a lot and finally had the flywheel changed one month before I got rid of the car. After the flywheel change it was a new engine. I could actually enjoy driving this in the city but what about the 2 years before this? It was a chore driving this car at low speeds because of the half baked tech that Skoda put in my car. I was very close of not buying a Skoda anymore after this problem.

I test drove other cars with 3 cylinder diesel engines and this is a Skoda issue, it is not a 3 cylinder diesel engine issue. On Hyundai i20 there is a 1.1 CRDI engine with 3 cylinders and 70 bhp. It never stalled on me, never felt the need to downshift in 1st while going into a roundabout as I did with my 1.4 TDI 90 bhp Skoda Fabia.

Even Skoda's own 3 cylinder MPI petrol engine is way better round the city compared to that 1.4 diesel. Drove that a bit in the Citigo and Vw Up.
