Diesel vs petrol currently?

Featured Replies

I am trading in a 1.6 diesel astra for my petrol octavia, I do 20 miles each way for work commute plus a bit of kid ferrying locally and some slightly longer trips. DPF regen is 200-250 miles. It's annoying when it starts close to my destination - 200 miles is once a week and every 3rd week on average I'm driving somewhere I don't want simply to clear the regen to stop the fuel going into the sump. Its an annoyance I'd rather not have. Astra averaged 52mpg, I'm expecting 42-48 from the Octy, it'll be interesting what it is like for me. I'm sure DPF regen tech must have moved on from 2009 though, and it's safer to interrupt regens more often?
