air bag light on

Featured Replies

Hi folks , recently purchased skoda Octavia vrs estate 2015 , after a few weeks air bag light came on , my friend who has the diagnostic tool pluged it into the 16 pin adapter and it said that the drivers side passenger door crash scensor was faulty , I have checked the wiring under the seat and the 2 multi plugs that connect under the carpet they look ok , but the wiring that goes under the seat and over the 2 gears that move the seat up and down is very tight   and then it goes up into the back of the seat possibly into the seat airbag , I have removed the rear door panel and there is a little tiny sensor by the tweeter that connects into the loom it clips into the door panel , problem is you need the software to clear the light even if you have fixed the fault , I should have disconnected the plug yellow wire under the carpet to see if another code came up suggesting that the seat wiring is ok , and the fault does lie in the rear door ,im x car meg now working on plant and machinery , I have very little faith in the dealers although the car has some warrantee I would like to fix this myself , I feel the fault lies under the seat because I have been moving it up and down a lot trying to find the best seating position and this seems to pull the wiring not enough slack left for adjustment when cable tied from new  . any suggestions or info would be great cheers phil.

I had this just before an MOT, luckily the dealer fixed under warranty, it turned out to be the actual sensor. This was lucky as they told me that if it was the wiring at fault rather than the sensor then the warranty wouldn’t cover it..

Why not?  They couldn't put it down to "fair wear & tear" surely?

I had that conversation. All they would say was that any damage to the wiring would not be covered, as you would not expect wires to be wear and tear, only to be affected by damage, or the now infamous rodent damage.
