VRS Remap Options

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm at a crossroads with my VRS, I posted previously that it had been written off and I was unsure whether I'd be keeping it or not (door damage only, so car is perfectly drivable and in otherwise half decent nick).

Further to the write off, the cam chain (not timing chain/belt) has been rattling and steadily getting worse to the point where it is just irritating beyond belief....doesn't affect the performance of the car but it does need doing as I'm sure eventually it will let go.

I think I'm actually leaning towards keeping it now despite all of this as it is otherwise a great car, and I'll simply drive it until it gives up the ghost completely. I'm going to get the chain sorted, even though its expensive (£700+) it is still cheaper than trying to buy a similar alternative car (better the devil you know etc. as well)

My question really relates to remaps, an area I've never delved into, but with mine being the petrol variant it can be a little on the thirsty side and I wondered if any of the performance remaps can actually bring better fuel economy as well as performance gains? Failing that, are there any remaps that are purely efficiency based?

I dont want to neuter the car, but I really dont need any extra performance, it's perfect for my needs and really this is the family car and is more of a load lugger than anything. I've just moved and I'll be travelling about double my old commute now so wringing a few more MPG out of it would be a good option if I'm going to keep it on.

Cheers....and sorry for waffling on :)

Good man, talk to Shark or Revo. Live the dream !

Another to throw into the mix is R-Tech in Nuneaton.

Thanks guys, I'll get in touch with them and see what they can offer.

Just got to get the cam chain sorted first and accept that it's going to be an expensive garage bill!

Where are you based? If you’re anywhere near Brigg north Lincs try  map-tech did my old pre-fl diesel Octavia vrs. Improved performance and mpg. Don’t know what they can do for a petrol but I liked the map on mine.
