Glovebox light

Featured Replies

In my fabia mk3 1.4tdi se the glovebox light has never worked. I replaced the bulb yesterday and still doesnt work. Has anyone had any experience of this before? Im guessing its the switch mechanism for when you open the glovebox

obvious question but did you turn the bulb around the other way as well and do you know the bulb definitely works.

I usually test them out in the map reader ones first time as these are easier and less fiddly (take internal light fuse out in panel first as precaution)

Yes it definitley works and its just a normal bulb so works both ways round unlike led which only works one way round

Luckily it works most of the time, the glove box is closed and the bulb is not lit up.

Also not overheating and setting the car on fire. Or the battery going flat.

Just get a Dealership to make the bulb come on when the Glove Lid is open,   that is what warranties are for if still in warranty.

If you have not had the car from new the previous keeper maybe disabled the light.

PS.

OT but i remember you were asking about changing the Yeti's coolant.

Was the coolant replaced on the 1.4TDI Fabia under the 'Recall Action' / Service Campaign by a dealership?

ive messed around with the glove box light quite a bit and when i had the fitting pulled out and down in the mk2 vrs, it stayed ON when glovebox was shut for quite a while (you can peek in through a tiny gap in mine)

I locked myself in the car and it was still on in the glovebox!

I changed to LED a while back and the head of the fitting had melted and broke off, same in the boot.

was using these and heads broke off

Yesi did ask about the yeti coolant good memory. Yes it was doen twice or three times on the fabia along with a water pump. How would the glovebox light have been disabled? Through vcds?

Pulling a fuse would do it, but then i take it also kill something else as well.

Il check the fuses at the weekend just to be sure

maybe the contacts are bent and not touching. i changed my bulbs again at weekend. good bulbs that were working in the overhead map readers were not working in the glove box depsite swapping around for the 50/50 chance.

I had to take fuse out then re-bend the contacts in the glove box fitting using screw driver. Not all LED light fittings are the same size
