Windscreen Washers

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Ive done a bit of reading up on here but can’t seem to find the same fault that is happening on my Dad’s 2003 Octavia.

The windscreen washers have stopped working so I thought it might be the pump. I have run a direct feed to the pump and it works fine. When I have checked the plug there doesn’t seem to be a feed there. I have checked the fuses and they seem to be ok. Could this be a relay problem instead?

TIA

Matty

If the pump works and fuses are good, Get a good dose of contact cleaner into the stalk switches first. It could well be a build of carp in there doing it - end of the day theres 15yrs of dust, moisture and airborne carp most likely settled in there.

I had headlight/indicator stalk woes ages back on my old mk1 that a good soaking sorted out in 5 mins and it never came back.

@Matty_R - Do the wipers still work when you pull "wash"? If so, then it may be the washer jets being gunged up.
