I have been in the pursuit of a 1.5 tsi in Edition spec with DSG for about six weeks now

I managed to track down a pre-reg/demo vehicle in business grey with just over 500 miles on the clock

It was registered in April and was for sale at £25990 (inc spare wheel and adaptive cruise)

Compared to what's available out there right now, this is an excellent price on a very rare car in showrooms

 

The downside when I paid my deposit was that the forecast availability date would not be till Sep/Oct

The dealer would not release the car until a replacement vehicle had been delivered

After a few days, I pushed the dealer to find out how they got there Sep forecast

Eventually they sort of told me that the replacement car had only been ordered in June but couldn't provide build or delivery week info

I therefore got them to agree that if I wanted out before Sep then they would refund my deposit

 

At the weekend, I found a brand new standard spec 1.5 tsi edition with DSG in Moon White via Orangewheels

I have paid the deposit and should collect the car next weekend

The OTR inc £600 and 2 free services via PCP finance (which I will cancel immediately) is just over £26K 

 

I have yet to cancel the previous vehicle but will do so as soon as the documentation on my new vehicle is all complete

Thereafter I will provide the location and details of the cancelled order which might hopefully suit someone if they are prepared to accept a potentially lengthy delay

 

Any tips on new ownership will be gratefully received

This will be my first ever new car purchase

Tips, 

• download the karoq manual and read some before you take delivery, the car comes with a paper manual but also it quite often refers to the online version, I find the latter one easier to search too, as you have a skoda already I am sure you will know some of the quirks for that manufacturer but safety features etc have moved on so much.
• expect to sit in the car stationary to begin with and quite a lot of the time with the engine running to go through the screens on the columbus to set up your seats, settings etc, make sure the safety features that you want are actually switched on, some of ours were switched off on delivery
• spend some time waxing etc (lots of info on the forum about this) so the dirt comes off easily, husband invested! in a squeegy for the glass roof
• plan some trips and enjoy your new car
