Mk1 vrs power steering help needed

Featured Replies

Hello everyone just bought myself a vrs 2005 my problem is I've no power steering at all there is plenty of fluid in the reservoir my question is this will a rack and or pump from an alh 1.9tdi octavia mk1 fit my 1.8 turbo vrs with AUQ engine code is the rack and pump the same many thanks kind regards gordon

@octaviatdi02 - It's a normal hydraulic PAS. To bleed it, jack up the front end, run the engine, and go lock to lock about 10 times. Now check the fluid level again!

That should either fix it or indicate that you need a new or exchange pump.

The pumps are physically the same but have different letters on the end of the part number, not sure what the differences are. I've attached a link to the parts catalogue.

I'm not certain, but I think the rack ratio is different. The TDi is abut 3.5 turns between locks.
