Pull off the motorway and down the slip road up to a set of lights, then i notice the engine is much louder.

Turn my music off and the engine sounds fine, no added knocks or noises, but it sounds like its inside of the cabin!

 

Pull away and its still loud, a few clonks happen and then it goes back to being quiet!

 

Any ideas? my first guess is exhaust cracked/loose...

Can you be more descriptive of the the sound.

 

Clonks could be failing DMF.

Clonks could be failing DMF.

Its normal engine noise, but its penetrating the cabin alot more. Sounds like the firewall between the cabin and engine bay is missing.

The car has a SMF now.

It could be the exhaust flexible joint.

 

Only one way to find out, instead of playing the guessing game get underneath and check.

SMF is a lot noisier on idle with clutch up
