MK1 VRS non-starter.

Featured Replies

Popped out this morning and upon returning to the car, no start. Starter motor not working. I knew the battery was struggling through the winter and once the weather improved, no cold morning starts needed, I could nurse it through the summer. Any way, shot to Halfords thinking it had finally quite and got a new battery and proceeded to fit it only to find the cable had broken off at the terminal. No problem, just get a new cable and I swap the battery out at the same time. New cable search goes:- Halfords, no. Euro Car Parts, no. GSF, no. The issue lays in the fact that the original has an auxiliary tapping that replacements don't have. Any one sourced one that won't take ten days as TPS have quoted? Haven't tried Skoda as nearly everything is now order only and not on the shelf.

Cheers.

Might be quicker to get one off a car that's being broken for spares.

Not sure if one from a Golf/A3/Leon etc would fit?

Short term I'm going to nick the one off of my son's car. Popping to a local dealer and see how long they'll take to get one in and go from there.
