Smartlink and Nokia 8

Featured Replies

Hi all.  Has anyone successfully connected a Nokia 8 to their Kodiaq via smartlink?

I know that the car side of things works as I've had it set up with a Samsung phone, but I cannot get the car to recognise the Nokia when I plug it into the USB -

Any thoughts/solutions out there?

Thanks -

Doesn't it have to be Android or iOS to work? I thought the Nokias were Windows?

Yep.  The old Nokia phones were windows.  Nokia 8 (and subsequent) phones are android.

All sorted.  In case anyone searches this topic in future... Try using the original cable your phone came with rather than a cheap old one you found in the back of the kitchen drawer.

Garmin (dash cams) are renowned for this too. Their cables have a little microchip built in, if the device detects a non-genuine cable is used then it won't work or will limit functionality.

Annoying but understandable given the amount of dodgy eBay cables out there waiting to fry your cars CANBUS or burn your house down.

Also worth noting that not all Android phones work with Mirrorlink/Smartlink. OnePlus have never supported it so i'm yet to be able to test out this functionality on my car, unless i buy a new phone.
