An “almost accidental” Skoda owner

Featured Replies

Dear all,

Hello from an “almost accidental” Skoda owner. After five Alfa Romeos: 75 Two Litre, 75 Two Litre, 155 V6 2.5, 156 V6 2.5 and finally the V6 Brera 3.2 Q4 I’ve changed brands.

The Brera had a few problems at Service / MOT time which resulted in an estimate of £5,350 for repairs! Probably more than the car was worth so, long story short, it was scrapped for £750 with 85,000 miles on the clock. So after that heartache I decided on a loose shortlist of:

Alfa Giulietta 1.75 Turbo, Alfa 159 V6 Q4, Infiniti G Coupe, Jag XE, Jag XF, Nissan 370Z and an idea about investigating Subaru. But nothing was giving me a buzz.

Then I typed something like “V6 four wheel drive” into the Autotrader website and there was a Superb 3.6 V6 Elegance DSG 4x4…

It was a little over my budget but after a bit of investigation, a couple of emails and a phone call, I decided to that a trip from Newcastle to Rotherham was worth a day off work.

The car was exactly as described but the V6 Superb isn’t listed in Parkers Price Guide so I had to make a “best guess” that I wasn’t paying over the odds. Its 2011, with 46,000 miles on it with a full service history. Should last me 5 or 6 years. But then again I said that about the Brera three years ago!

Cheers,

Graham

Welcome Graham :hi:.  The V6 Superb is such an underrated car and a shame they don't still make them.  Hope you have lots of fun with it which I'm sure you will!  That's some Alfa history you have there!  Most just buy the one to get it out of their system :D.  The V6 should be an easier car to live with.

A warm welcome to the Forum Graham!   Never tried an Alpha but I know those that do love 'em.
