Can you help.. Daughter's citigo colour edition 2016. 1st gear is difficult or no access and crunches into reverse .skoda dealer quote charictoristcs ....??? £900 to take the box off if they find nothing. Skoda UK don't want to know as its a wear n tear... 24000 miles... 

Does the Master Tech feel what it is you are aware of?

Let them take it apart to find which of the OEM parts has Wear & Tear after only 24,000 miles and 2 years.

That is what the Manufacturers Warranty is for,  they will find which part was not fit for purpose and they can replace it and it will not cost you £900.

 

Where do they get finding the fault or just that there is wear and tear as taking 8 hours of a Technicians time anyway?

You could try bleeding the clutch.  I think the brake master cylinder reservoir supplies fluid to both, so check that level before and after bleeding.  99% of gear selection problems are clutch related.  That said the (VW derived) transmission is noted for fragility.  Best of luck.
