Make contact with Offski on here.

He will provide you the information you need.

All the best.

I take it the 2012 vRS was built early 2012 so had a CAVE Engine.

Your 2014 CTHE engine car should give a better odds of being reliable and trouble free.

The same things are important though,  good oil, maybe not Long Life VW 504 / 507,  next service get VW502 00 so 5w 40 FS, and change at Fixed Servicing.

The Spark plugs need checked so as well to change @ 20,000 miles not 40,000.

Clean Air filters.

Use Super Unleaded, Tesco Momentum 99 is good.

There can be a Timing Chain issue with CTHE engines.

Be sure to check if the DQ200 DSG needed the 'free' service campaign '34H5' a Software Update, and if needed was it done.

(Different from '34F7' that was 2009-2013 cars and change of Synthetic oil to mineral & a software update,

the '34H5' is on some DSG 2013-2015)

Ask them or a Main Dealer and do it in writing, get the reply in writing.

Enjoy the car after your checks are done. Best have a Warranty on it.

Hi Offski, cheers for your reply,

yes the 12 plate was the cave engine with full skoda service history, the dealer was prepared to have a new engine fitted but skoda wasnt interested,

me and wife spent 6 hours today checking differant cars out today and all  we did was compare and chat about the skoda fabia lol,

have a chance on a 14 plate vrs 24.500 miles but 1 snag i can see, only 2 service stamps, so a bit weary

regards

They never came with Service Books in 2014, so good that someone got a Service Book.

The car came from the Factory set on Variable / Flexible Servicing so some might have stuck with the 18,000 miles / 24 months what ever comes first.

2 services in 4 years is within the Manufacturers Guidelines if done with OEM Parts at a VAT Registered Establishment.

So when and where were the 2 Services done?

http://volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/regimes     Someone not doing services as Fixed Servicing yet Low Annual Mileage is not always a worry IMO.

The Spark Plugs need changed at 24,500 miles if never done and the Brake Fluid should have been changed at 3 years old.

will find out tomorrow, was waiting on feedback from here 1st i have reg, is there any checks i can do?

Before the car is started pop the bonnet and dip the oil.  Cold it should be at the top of the cross hatch at least.

Check all 4 tyres are matching or a matching pair on the front and matching at the rear.

Open the boot and in the spare tyre well look to see if beside the big 'Build Sticker' there is any Service Campaign Stickers like one with '34H5' on it.

Give it at least a 10 mile test run, the oil is only getting up to temp after 5 miles even at this time of year.

Give it a good booting after 5 miles, try the CC on.  Kick down the DSG a few times.

When you get back after just 4-5 minutes dip the oil and see where it is on the dipstick at operating temp.

Just gives an idea if the Dealers knows anything about the car and the oil not overfilled or too low.

Enjoy the test drive.

If it has 95 ron in it can hold it back a bit if the car has been sitting and just doing short warm ups.

had a chat with dealer, there not sure about 34h5 srvice campaign but was a bit too busy when i called to look, 2 services by main dealer 1 at 7,000 1 at  12,000 and selling dealer has just done  oil change with 5w 30 and back pads overall seems ok but so did the other lol.

its a 2014  done 24,000 and its around £8,500

do i take another risk?

If there is no record of a service between 7,000 miles and 24,000 miles that should not be a problem if taking out a Skoda Warranty as long as the 17,000 miles was done within 24 months.

Just check tomorrow with Skoda UK Customer Services the Warranty History if any,

or a Skoda Main Dealership can check, and the 'DSG Service Campaign' if outstanding.

My 14plate vrs was an awesome car and I was genuinely gutted when I traded it in, as long as the car has been serviced and run properly you’ll be fine
