Featured Replies

Hi,

recently i noticed a rectangle discoloration on dashboard passanger side.

at start i was thinking that is could be the srs air bag under.

i attach a video of me wiping the spot with water but this discolor seen also when spot is dry.

It’s the outline of the airbag, the concentration of plastic is different here so the bag blows out correctly.

...as I found out in practice ;)

my main concern is because  i can see very small height and color difference  between this rectangle part to the rest of the dashboard.

maybe the sun cause it, the spot where it's different concentration of plastic is lightly swell and change it's color.

my only concern is if its common and normal behavior of the dash cause if not i still have warranty.

It’s perfectly fine and honestly nothing to worry about :)

No ,it's not "common" on Octavias, but I have seen it on other cars. I find a mist of deionised water then a microfibre cloth usually works in restoring the fascia finish.

Try some Armoroll matt dashboard wipes as a follow up if needed. Then maybe Back to Black etc..

Additional Verbosity

You can see it on all cars if you look for it in the right light.

Its something you cannot really avoid because around the airbag the dash material is made much thinner so the airbag deploys in the correct direction & the plastic part goes the other way instead of hitting you in the face.
