Roof bars for 2014 Fabia 1.25

Featured Replies

I'm looking at buying a 2014 Fabia 1.25.  As I have a sea kayak (about 17 ft long), I need to know how far apart the fixed points for the roof bars are.  Can anyone clarify this for me?

If they are not fixed points, can anyone tell me how far apart it is possible to fix the roof bars?

Thanks

Sue

Welcome.

Sorry i can not help with the measurement, but hopefully someone will be along that can.

On the Hatch there are holes when you open the doors that the roof bar pins go into.

Look on Google Images and you will see Mk2's and Mk3 hatches with the bars in position.

There have been members here in the past with kayaks and sea kayaks on hatches with roof bars, there are threads about bthem if you search.

Would it not be better to get an Estate with roof rails to put roof bars on and more room in the estate rear?

they are 9 3/4" longer than a hatch.

?

What are you looking at getting a 1.2 or 1.2TSI Fabia.   is the 1.25 a typo?

Thanks for taking the time to respond.  Yes, I did mean 1.2 TSI.  I'd prefer a small car as this suits the majority of my driving better.  My partner has an estate, but as he works away at times, I need something that can take my kayak.

Really are you going to be worried by the extra rear length of a Fabia Estate over a Hatch.

It does at least have the roof rails.  Everything else is identical other than 9 3/4" extra behind the wheels & stronger rear springs.

Get one with rear parking sensors.

Best go look at the Hatches on sale and see where the roof bars would need to go.

The Hatch or Estate rear can not be opened  right up with a sea kayak on the roof.

What about a MINI Clubman.  Rear opening doors not a hatch, small door behind the drivers, lower roof for loading.  I like them.

To answer the question, the holes that take the brakets for the roof bars are almost exactly 80cm apart or thirty one and a half inches, in old money!

Skoda do a set of bars (part no. LAS710001B ) for the Fabia, retail £180 otherwise, Thule or Halfords are the best option and are often sold/purchased used and good condition on a well known auction site. They come in three pieces and are similar in retail price to Skoda.

Ofski mentioned the hatch not opening up with the Kayak onboard. That will be true of most elevating hatches though and the rear seats fold, so boot space can be accessed via the interior, if just a little more difficult.

Very handyour when getting kit on and off,  and loading paddles and stuff to have a rear edge to sit on,  use covers etc while boat on the roof..  Got the wet t- shirts.
