Bumper protector

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a durable steel rear bumper protector that will not come unstuck?

How much do you want to pay?

The more expensive protectors come with the more premium adhesive tapes, such as Milotec in Germany, once it's on it isn't coming off. The 3M tape was something I've never seen before. Mine was close to £60, plus shipping.

I had one fitted to my one of my previous cars, and it didn't move in the 8 years I had it...

There are plenty on eBay for a lot less (£20-£30), but I'd be unsure of their quality. A lot are painted, so that when they are required to do their job (i.e. protect the bumper), the paint scratches off revealing with the bright white or black plastic underneath, which kind of defeats the object.

Note that the upper surface of the rear bumper on the Kodiaq is actually very small, and unpainted, so there isn't an awful lot to protect.

Mine was fitted more for aesthetic reasons as it matches the aluminium effect trim of the Scout, cover the honey comb effect unpainted section of the bumper (not a fan) and remains visible when the boot is closed, it is plastic, but not painted....

Quite a few metal / steel ones on Superskoda, they're a bit shiny / bling for me though...

Thank you. I see that the ones you show still leave part of the bumper unprotected. Do all the Kodiaq bumpers have three steps or is that only a Scout feature?

All the Kodiaq rear bumpers have the three steps.

I've only ever seen bumper protectors that cover the 1st and 2nd steps...

Steps 1 and 2 should be enough for loading items in and out.

If its dogs you have and you want to protect against them "scrabbling" on the paintwork etc, the only solution that really works is having a cover you can flip out over the bumper.

A bit like this:

That looks like just the right thing.  I'll be having one if/when I go Kodiaq.

Why does it come with a Haemorrhoid relief ring and outsize enema kit though? That's just weird.

I did think that, why does a trip to the pool require a bumper protector!?

I think it is perhaps promoting the rubberised, and therefore water resistant surface, but a dog sat in there would probably be more appropriate!
